24/11/58 - HOLLYWOOD: Britain's buxom actress, Sabrina, poses in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre while actor Steve Cochran (foreground, back to camera) takes her picture. Sabrina, who at one time was billed as Britain's answer to Marilyn Monroe, is en route to Australia where she will appear in her own follies show. She stopped off here to see Cochran, an old friend.

A small mens type magazine a collection of glamour photos of the famous Sabrina never before published (1950S?) some taken with famous stars of the day. Includes fold out centre page pin-up dreamtime photo.

This elusive little sucker appeared on eBay, starting at £UK3 and rapidly rising to £UK17! (It ended up selling for £26!! Ed.) Someone was certainly keen to get it, considering the maximum bid he/she allowed. I may be a Sabrina Fan, but that's too rich for my blood : considering Australia's exchange rate it would have worked out to $OZ47, not including postage. At that price, I could have booked it a seat on Qantas. But still, it looks wonderful. (November 2002)

23 November 2002: When all looked hopeless, David Jackson leapt to the rescue and bought the elusive little sucker : and here it is free and complete for all Sabrinaphiles!

I have 27 sabrina images obtained from various locations on the internet over the last 5 or 6 years. Great site -- particularly like the aussie tv video clip. She and June Wilkinson are the only Brit 1950s pinup gals that I can specifically recall seeing in mags during my callow youth.

The next three are courtesy of ignatz whose patient searching of the web over the years has reaped these Sabrinasnaps. Thanks, ignatz! He also provided some larger/better copies of existing pix, which have replaced my originals.

ceguah said: This photo is from Rekord-Magasinet, a Swedish magazine directed to (young) men, mainly devoted to sports and short stories of suspense and adventure, always holding a high moral profile. The stories were generally followed by a ”bon mot” like ”Remember - crime doesn’t pay” and the like. If I remember right, the pic was accompanied by some words about Sabrina's trip to the USA, "but now the British are happy to to have their bosom queen back home again" or something like that.

Exactly which issue and what year I don't know, but it is from the early sixties.

The Louis Treasures

Louis of Reno, Nevada was kind enough to send his 'treasures' to SabrinaHQ - his 8x10" prints of some great Sabby snaps - some of them new to this site! Many thanks, Louis! In consideration of his kindness, he has been awarded 12 months' BOOBS membership.

Of particular interest was the information on the back of some the photos.

C.S.M. Frederick Lonsdale and Sergeant Bill Eckersley presented Sabrina on behalf of the Cheshire Regiment with a plaque in admiration of her early fight against polio. They also presented her with a very correct salute.

Bolero magazine, 1962

Sabrina in the Merrysweets swapcard collection. I bet many of you still have one or two collected with your old marbles and conkers. While the sweeties were delights for the kids, the card was for the dads to collect.

Look who is adding a few fresh contours to this rock formation.  It's Sabrina!  Her beauty is reaching the dizzy heights as usual.  Just in case you haven't noticed, perhaps we should mention that above her 41-19-36 figure she is wearing a rather striking hat.

And those eagle-eyed hat-fanciers among you will surely have noticed that this picture is one of the Coronado Hotel series!

This was found on eBay, disfigured by a logo (see below). Thanks to Edward for pointing out this pic to me.

Some careful work with Microsoft Image Composer cleaned it up as well as I could manage, but I had to cut off her forelock.

The more interesting story relates to the caption on the back of the photo:

May 23 1960. NEW YORK: Buxom British Belle SABRINA pours champagne glass as she celebrates her 23rd birthday at Gotham Hotel here May 21st. Sabrina recently returned from year-long tour of Australia and the Far East."

This stirs up the age/birthday mystery again. It implies Sabby was born on May 21, 1937. Read up on the birthday debate.

Sabrina and Barry Sullivan in a PR photo taken during the London filming of Another Time, Another Place in 1957. Oddly, it's the irrelevant girl on the left who captures one's attention. The PR photo man obviously didn't care!

Barry starred in over 100 movies, including Demon Planet, also known as:

Such a list of noms de plume rivals Sabrina's infamous House of Black Death, which was a flop in spite of 4 different names!

Found on eBay in July 2007 - a signed clipping with a starting price of 10 quid - about $OZ25! After enlarging it with Alien Skin Blow Up plugin in Photoshop, the text became easier to read:

In the past Norwich Carnival has brought big name stars to town. Stars like Mike Preston, Miss World and Ken Dodd. Now this year we are bringing SABRINA. She will ride in the procession, crown the Carnival Queens, and then will be at the Civic Hall on Carnival Night for the Carnival Dance. As the Dubber (??) News goes to press negotiations are being made to bring other top personalities to the Carnival. Watch out for more details."
