There is a tantalising comment in a Ben Franklin guestbook at http://www.ushistory.org/franklin/guestbook/ entered by "Harold Melsheimer, 74 yo retired Gynecologist M.D. [01-26-2002]". The age could be right... and if it's our Dr Melsheimer, he must be online!

May 2011 update: Since 2007, Dr Melsheimer seems to have been living in the Woodland Hills, CA, with wife Bettye Jean. (source)
